HERMAN’S MODERN BAKERY
From past to Present
Welcome to Herman’s Modern Bakery corner, home of the famous Herman’s Sweet Bread and Pan Tuba. This is the place for exquisite baked products made from locally grown exotic fruits and vegetables. Herman’s Modern Bakery integrates these and many more organically grown products into its cookies and other baked goods as we invite you to experience a taste of Saipan!
Herman’s Modern Bakery has a long and proud history. The story begins with the founders, Herman Reyes Guerrero and Maria Camacho Tenorio, who met, fell in love and married in 1942. The Guerrero’s continued to grow their family as well as their business.
Eventually, the bakery was infused with new and innovative ideas under the leadership of one of the second generation of Guerrero clan, and two great Japanese bakers, Mr. Yamada and Mr. Sudo. In 1979, Herman’s Modern Bakery relocated from its origins in Chalan Kanoa to its present location on Chalan Tun Herman Pan (the major artery road leading to Saipan International Airport which bears the name of the Herman’s Modern Bakery founder). Today, Herman’s Modern Bakery continues its association with the United States Armed Forces, and is the only bakery plant in the Micronesia Region whose products and catering services have been approved as being consistent with acceptable standards for the highest possible quality products.
From a very small and humble Mom and Pop operation with only four employees, Herman’s Modern Bakery has grown its business into a multimillion-dollar corporation. It is proud to service the local community and visitors, and export to its neighboring islands of Tinian, Rota, Guam, Micronesia and beyond for these past eighty years.
We invite you to try the freshly baked products presented here from Herman’s Modern Bakery. Bring your favorites home for family and friends, for a lasting remembrance of the goodness of Saipan.
